In the Leiden Rijksmuseum van Oudheden there is a beautiful exhibition about The gardens of the pharaohs : flowers, plants and trees on artefacts from in Ancient Egypt.
Here a necklace with stylized mandrake fruits:


from the tomb of Djehuty, 1450 b.C.
The museum also shows some modern jewelry based on ancient Egypt style (Steltman collectie).
Also in the tomb of Tutankhamun artwork was found with fruit and trees on. Here a mandrake being presented to Tutankhamun (not shown in Leiden).

Today, May 9th 2012, Google Doodle shows the tomb of Tutankhamun.

The tomb was discovered by Howard Carter, and today it is Carter´s 138th birthday.

please could you tell me .Is there any more information about the mandrake necklace does anyone know its size and what the stones are

I do not know much more. The size is like a normal necklace, the stones are made of fayence. It belongs to the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden Leiden, maybe you can more information there!

Fayence is a manner of pottery, look it up on wikipdia!
